UNIVERSITY PUSHES ID MANAGEMENT TO THE CLOUD

Moving a university's mission-critical ID management solution to the cloud requires something of a leap of faith. For Coppin State University, the leap also required a hands-on, several-months-long proof of concept with a trusted vendor to convince the small university that the solution would work.

Article Synopsis. In this case study, Campus Technology documents Coppin State University's processes and best practices for moving their on-premise deployment of Fischer Identity Suite™ to Fischer's cloud-based Identity as a Service® (IaaS®) environment. The article focuses on how the university addressed security, performance, and other concerns frequently associated with cloud services with the vendor. Resulting benefits are also discussed, including a savings of two FTEs.
